Personal Top Ten Dragon Based Boss Battles

Dislcaimer

This is a top ten list created by my personal opinion. The rules are I had to beat the game and I had to have fought the boss. This and this entire series have been based on Pokemon types however Dragon is the last one, therefore this will be the last top ten about the Pokemon types, however I will be doing a recap blog about this. It is highly possible for our opinions to differ for I have not played every game.

For those of you expecting an Ant-Man Review, well my reviews often don't get read anymore so I skipped it. I'll still do reviews but perhaps not as much. I will say Ant-Man wasn't the best Marvel Movie, but it wasn't the worst either. Without further ado, here we go.

#10 Argorok (Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess)

Argorok1

You know this list is good when I start off with a decent boss battle. This boss battle was fun, as getting to use the duel clawshots was an original and fun idea setting up Attack on Titans... erm I mean this boss battle. Got to deal with his pesky armor but it is still fun to sling through the air never touching ground until the fight is done. It is a fun boss fight and worth the effort to get here.

#9 Fin Fang Foom (Marvel Ultimate Alliance)

Fin_Fang_Foom_(Earth-6109)_002

A cool fight from Marvel Ultimate Alliance, this is the first big or stage boss battle and is the final fight on the Helicarrier the first level. It is an interesting battle and probably one of the better ones of the game despite being one of the first as well. What is really fun is to be able to shoot Fin Fang Foom out of the sky and have him come back really angry with you. Not as fun as Doom but still a fun fight.

#8 Hailfire Dragons (Banjo-Tooie)

Two on one spot? Is it a tie? Well actually I don't count them as separate bosses, one of the reasons is they fight the same, you fight the first and then get to the other one for a harder phase two. Yeah they are in different areas to the level, but you need to defeat them both in whatever order to get the Jiggy. the fight is about using fire eggs on the ice dragon, or ice eggs on the fire dragon, and shooting the eggs out of a cannon while dodging tongue and breath based attacks. fun fight and rewarding as these two are constantly annoying until taken down.

#7 Ridley (Super Smash Bros Brawl)

Ridley

I suck at Metroid games, enough so to have never beaten one yet. That being said, I have fought Ridley in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and it was a fun fight. I'm not 100% sure Ridley is a dragon but the argument could be made, but he is actually a space pirate and a nasty one at that. The attacks he has for this fight are very similar to the way he often fights in the original 2-D Metroid games so that is a nice bonus.

#6 Hydra (God of War)

Hydra

Well they are multi headed water dragons, but yes I counted the Hydra fight. God of War games, when they start out with a water like boss you know you are in for a treat for some reason. This beast is what Kratos is sent to kill at the start of the first God of War game before going after Ares. You need to defeat the two side heads then use the main mast to impale the main head slaying the beast. Fun fight.

#5 Ryuji (No More Heroes 2 Desperate Struggles)

Ryuji1-620x

Yeah, this guy doesn't look like a dragon I know. I mostly included him because of his awesome dragon beam attack. Using a beam spear, he can actually shoot out a dragon from the blade. Not only that but with the dragon on his jacket, and Travis represented as a tiger, this is obviously a Yin and Yang battle here, with Ryuji being the dragon of the battle. It is a cool symbolism battle and dodging the dragon attacks is interesting.

#4 Lance (Pokemon)

HeartGoldSoulSilverLance

Well these elements are from Pokemon lore, you had to expect Lance to show up eventually. Lance is a powerful trainer who is in the Elite Four in the first few pokemon games, and is the champion in Pokemon Silver which is where I beat him in the second generation. When I beat him I had a very low leveled Piloswine as my ice type, and honestly I was playing only to see how far I'd get not expecting to beat the dang game, but there I was facing Lance. I got all the way to his last Dragonite when my second last pokemon went down, and even compared to the rest of my team, my Piloswine was so under leveled, I was using my favorite Ferligatr with ice punch to wipe out most of his team. On my last leg, I tried to attack. Piloswine survived the first hit but it took over half his health. Blizzard didn't do too bad of damage but it was over without a miracle. I guess fate was on my side, as that final Dragnonite froze solid with that one attack. Amazing that "seeing how far I could get not expecting much" beat that part of the game for me.

#3 Alduin (Elder Scrolls V Skyrim)

alduin_and_leonidas_by_lupusmagus-d4mmvqh

I'm counting both the fight on the top of the "Throat of the World" as well as in the after life. Throat of the World fight is a bit tougher, but you have a dragon killing spell that keeps Alduin on the ground making him quit work in all battles, but the second one you have teammates as well. Not the hardest boss fight out there, but Alduin's design is amazing honestly, and the set up for the boss is impressive, even if he isn't all that hard to kill. It is hard to say if the Dragon Born fight in the DLC would have replaced him or not, I haven't beaten that DLC yet.

#2 Bonetail (Paper Mario Thousand Year Door)

Bonetail

I only fought this boss once. I cam close but I didn't actually defeat him. Fun fight though, I wasn't prepared well enough for the fights above him which was my main issue. I was winning against him but my healing items were gone so yeah. He is tough and difficult to prepare for due to the fights above him as it is a pit of trials. Still an awesome boss fight and a great design to boot.

#1 Rayquaza (Pokemon Mystery Dungeon)

Rayquaza Being Awesome

Rayquaza is such a cool pokemon, and this fight on top of the clouds as a meteor is flying towards Earth, the set up, the challenge, everything was awesome about this fight. He was tough, deadly, but defeating him has a great result as well, as he notices the Meteor and tells you that his hyper beam will destroy it but it may destroy you as well. It doesn't because this is a Pokemon game, even if it is a spin off series. It is an excellent set up and a brilliant ending to such an interesting story.
