The movie begins with the Avengers taking out Strucker's Hydra base. Literally the first few seconds is all action with no dialogue. Thor in particular with the other Avengers is looking for Loki's scepter which was in Shield possession during Captain America the Winter Soldier, and in turn Hydra's possession. The team breaks in but Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch begin working against the Avengers. Tony Stark sees his worst fear, the Avengers dead because Tony was unable to save them (a theme in Iron Man 3) so later on when Tony and Bruce are looking into the scepter, Tony discovers something. In the scepter there is coded data, artificial intelligence. Turns out there was a program that Bruce and Tony were working out to create artificial intelligence called the Ultron program. Things go wrong as the A.I. thinks at a far quicker rate then thought, and it decides being Tony's puppet is not a good way to protect humanity. Heck, Ultron even begins thinking that the Avengers is the most dangerous force on the planet and plans to wipe them out, teaming up with the twins to do so.

That is all you are getting from me about the plot so I can avoid spoilers. I can tell you that while the plot is good, it is horridly rushed. Kind of a blink you miss it deal. There are a few times in which that the plot slows down but it is still rushed quickly through to the end. Not rushed enough to ruin the plot or affect the rest of the movie thankfully, but it is still a huge issue if you take plot over action.

Characterization

Every character in this movie is great. Every Avenger is shown to grow and fit into their roles either by growing as a character or slowly falls in front of you while also trying to save the day. The big questions is how are the twins, Ultron, and the Vision.

Since all the other characters work incredibly well, lets talk about the new ones. Scarlet Witch has EXCELLENT character development in this movie. Probably one of the rising stars in the movie. Her brother Quicksilver however doesn't develop as well. He has his moments in emotional pull for his humor but development wise he is a little weak.

Ultron is a beast. Seriously he is kind of scary and a great character, but if you are a hardcore comic junkie you may hate this version. He isn't anything like the comic version. He has a personality, a semi humorous one even if it is dark. He is literally a dark version of Tony Stark, to the point that he literally quotes Tony at times. He has a certain charm to him however he has no issue wiping out humanity to prove his point if need be. He feels that beauty is something to be kept forever, and while he feels change is a good thing, he wants to last forever. He wants to protect the world from the Avengers and if it means wiping out humanity to do so, then so be it. Ultron feels that humanity is doomed unless they follow him like a dictatorship, though the rushed plot doesn't explain this as well you can pick up on it.

Vision is another character drastically different from his comic version. Most will tell you it is Jarvis but it isn't. Jarvis is an important part of this character but Vision isn't Jarvis, but he certainly isn't Ultron either. I can't give to much away, but his story makes some senses, and his characterization is pretty cool in his own way.

The Avengers as I said have their building moments, seeing the origins of Black Widow, to seeing Hawkeye's life a little more. Both Hulk and Bruce Banner grow in the movie, while Tony works more towards the darker places. Captain America continues to fight the good fight and accept he is a warrior and not much else. Thor is actually pretty cool in this movie. Great characterization for sure. Strucker was pointless though.

Emotional Pull

Action, humor, and some sadder moments, this movie is packed with everything. It is a fun movie, and the action is SO GREAT. If you are an action junkie the Hulkbuster vs. Hulk fight does NOT disappoint. this made the movie worth the 10 bucks I paid to watch. The action at the start of the movie was epic as well. Every fight with Ultron pumped me up. The jokes were awesome, and no Hawkeye didn't steal the show. There are funny moments with all the characters including something Captain America says that NO ONE lets him off the hook for in humorous ways proving these people are friends. There are even a few humorous moments with Thor even. There is more emotional situations that may make your heart stop while not all the sadder moments are tear jerkers, they are still decently done and a little shocking. There is a funny part however... that should make you cheer as well.... Excelsior!

Scene Quality

Quicksilver's speed could have been a bit better at times, and there is a fight scene in which the scene is dark as hell because of their location which sucks. Outside of that the effects are awesome, the settings are decent despite using the same city several times. There are no pointless scenes in the movie since the plot is kind of rushed, but this is fine at the same time. The darkness thing happens during a fight and it makes the fight disorienting and hard to make out what is going on at times which is a nasty little flaw, but it is only one fight sequence, and Quicksilver's speed has a few issues to it, as it looks a little weird at times, like the visuals aren't as good as they should be. Outside of these two flaws however the special effects and scenes are awesome.

Creativity

Well the movie made Hawkeye important, gave a creative design and characterization to Ultron and made it work, Vision's design and personality are more traditional but his origin isn't, and the outfits. Iron Man looks more red then gold now, Black Widow and Hawkeye have more traditional outfits, Vision looks amazing, seriously the creative designs are awesome. While Ultron's main body looks way different then comic version, it still looks cool and gives him personality, however his other bodies look more traditional. A large amount of great ideas in the movie.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but this film is pretty good. If you love the characters of the Marvel movies and love action this movie is right up your ally, but if you are a plot heavy person then you may not like this movie as much as the plot is rushed which hurts the movie a bit, mostly with Ultron's final plan and his true purpose which is hard to spot if you aren't looking for it. There are a few scene issues with lighting and special effects, and there are a few weaker characters, but the movie as a whole is actually really great.

If you like Avengers I recommend you check this movie out. If you love action this movie is for you. If you like characterization over plot this movie is for you. If you like plot over characterization then you may want to wait on the movie. Since you currently cannot rent the movie, I'd say keep an eye out and watch when you get the chance overall.
