I"m back with this again. Sorry this is so late in the day, but I'm spending time in a hotel in which my computer won't work with the Wi Fi unless I'm near the elevator. Let's begin.
WARNING possible spoilers WARNING
This is barely based off of a hornet, but I'll count it so I don't repeat the Egg Beetle. Sonic Adventure is actually a pretty decent game back when Sega could program a lot of things in a game and have the game turn out half decent. This is the first boss fight outside of Chaos 0. While the fight isn't that tough, and it isn't that great, it is still fairly decent in the form of a boss battle.
While there are better Spider-Man games, Ultimate Spider-Man is a fun game and unique in that it follows the comic story that occurs in Ultimate Spider-Man as well as allowing you to play as Venom. One of the more entertaining boss fights from this game is the fight with Beetle, a bug based Iron Man working as a mercenary criminal. Beetle ends up facing both Spider-Man and Venom, but his fight with Venom is far more of a challenge as Beetle puts up more of a fight then. Not incredibly difficult or that great but still memorable.
Bees. Ever wonder what fighting a nest of bees is like? Well Banjo Kazooie tries to answer this. This battle is incredibly difficult... unless you have a large amount of golden feathers. It is a fun fight all the same and the level is also interesting in design as you can only face these bees during the summer version of the level. Interesting and can be difficult.
Bugsy is the bug gym leader from Pokemon Silver and Gold. His main call to action is a Scyther and he is pretty tough if you don't start out with a fire pokemon. He is the second gym leader you face and is pretty powerful in his own right, but he is beatable as well. And before mentioning it, yes Bugsy is a guy. He is low on the list because with a good fire or rock type pokemon Bugsy isn't that threatening.
While it isn't the most powerful aparoid in the bunch, in Star Fox Assault this is probably one of my favorite boss battles not through challenge but design. His design is cool, and I was not expecting this thing to fly in and blow up Oikanny's flagship. It is fearsome in design but not all that challenging really. Still if you had to fight a tougher form or several of them this could have gone differently.
While Queen Zinger from the first Donkey Kong Country game is pretty fun in her own right, it is King Zing that gets the gold from this series. he actually chases you in the previous level leading up to the boss fight, and then you get to challenge him head to head as Squawks the parrot. The fight with him can be challenging in its own right, and it is pretty fun and intense. I see another bee in my countdown... hmmm. I guess they do make good boss fights.
Wiggler has been a common enemy and a boss battle for Mario in the past. The boss fight I picked was with Wiggler in Super Mario Sunshine mostly because of the size of Wiggler and the way the fight plays out. Not as challenging as it could be, the shear mass of the bug is enough to make people a little leery of getting near him. Also using magic sand dunes to make him wipe out is awesome then climbing him to stomp on him is also fun. I kind of hope this massive thing returns one day.
Super Paper Mario isn't a bad game. It isn't great but it is unique and interesting as well as fun for the most part. The lacking part is the side characters. Mimi is an exception to this as she is a great character. She is a shape shifting creature who's true form is a large spider like being shooting ruby shards at her foes. All of her fights are rather interesting and very fun, and I hope she returns as well. She also hates Princess Peach.
Once again, not hard but super fun. First I love the design, a massive monster is always a good way to go. Second, the fight is incredibly fun with this thing. Yes it is the first boss in Wind Waker, yes it is easy, but you get to pull a dragon's tale to have a large slab of rock on his head to break his armor off. Afterwards it is an upfront fight with the thing in which you hit it's eye and stab it a few times. There are many gohmas to mention like Ocarina of Time or Twilight Princess that are fun fights, and Twinmold from Majora's Mask 3D is an easy second place when it comes to bug fights in Zelda, but this is just my favorite.
Predictable? Yes. Final boss fight? Of course. Is Pikmin 2 really that good? You bet. The Titan Dweevil is a hard boss because he uses weapons that hurt all types of Pikmin, and really having any type of Pikmin is dangerous as they could die. It is best to use Yellow Pikmin though because electricity you can't save your Pikmin from. This beast is a nightmare, but nets you some cool and unique treasure and is a fun and very challenging boss fight in the Pikmin world, as well as my favorite bug based boss battle.
