Hello people, this time it is an Avengers review as promised. Phase 1 has been reviewed finally. I'm not sure if anyone read my Captain America Review yet. I did do a much better review on it then before. Actually I've been really trying to do better reviews on these movies then before, as most of these are re-reviews.

So the plot of Avengers is that the Avengers initiation was scrapped by Shield. That being said, after experimenting with the Tessaract, Loki shows up and uses a staff possessing Hawkeye, Eric from Thor movie, and a bunch of others. The Shield base is destroyed and Loki escapes. Black Widow is called to talk to Bruce Banner while Phil Coulson talks to Tony Stark and Nick Fury talks to Steve Rodgers. After Loki is found, Steve Rodgers or Captain America ends up facing him in a fight and then Black Widow in a ship and Iron Man show up and arrest Loki. Thor shows up however and captures Loki from Shield. Iron Man and Thor duke it out for a while before Captain America comes in and stops the fighting, while Loki waits patiently which tips off the team that something is wrong. While Loki is imprisoned the staff he had begins corrupting the team's thinking as issues they have are brought to light and made worse. Black Widow even figures out that it is Hulk that Loki is trying to use, while Captain America discovers that Shield is making weapons out of the Tesseract. Eventually things get to a boiling point until a possessed Hawkeye attacks the helicarrier, however while the tension for most slips away, Bruce begins transforming into the Hulk and unfortunately he puts his focus on Black Widow due to her trying to calm him down. Hulk attacks Black Widow, but Thor comes in to save her and fights Hulk while Iron Man and Captain America work to fix one of the engines. Black Widow then finds Hawkeye and beats him up fixing his head by hitting it hard. Phil Coulson is then killed by Loki, and Thor is stuck in the prison cell Loki was in. So Thor is sent flying, Hulk is away, and the team is a bit scattered. Eventually Tony realizes that Loki will probably use the newly built Stark Tower as a focus point as Loki wants to defeat the Avengers in a show form. Iron Man makes it first, and begins using new armor as the Tesseract opens to reveal an alien invasion. Iron Man fights the invasion as Thor gets to New York next and fights Loki. Soon Loki escapes as Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Captain America show up. As Iron Man and Thor fight in the air, the others fight to save and evacuate as many people as they can. Eventually Bruce Banner shows back up, and turns to Hulk focused on the alien army and punches out one of the giant snakes. Captain America comes up with battle strategies for everyone so the invasion can be contained as much as possible, and the war continues. Eventually Black Widow gets to the top of Stark Towers and Shield shoots of a nuke as some of the top members decide it is better to kill everyone then let the aliens live. Iron Man catches the nuke and flies it into the portal throwing it at the alien mother ship and falls through as the portal is closed. Hulk actually saves Iron Man proving there is some humanity in the Hulk, and the Avengers go to confront Loki who was blasted then beat up in Stark Towers. Loki is given to Thor and Thor uses the Tesseract to get Loki and himself home. Bruce Banner goes with Tony Stark and the Avengers part ways after eating Shawarma. It is also revealed Thanos was the one who ruled the army Loki was using.
Wow this is a long story. Is it any good? Yes, they handle all of this incredibly well. The only issue with plot is the alien army members drop dead after the mother ship was blown up. Literally they show this happening. It is kind of a bigger plot hole, and you could argue that it was their technology connected to the ship keeping them alive in our atmosphere, but the movie should have explained this in some way rather then letting us speculate. That is the only issue this plot has that I've seen though and it is a smaller issue because it can be speculated as a possible logical conclusion so there you go.

Well no shocker, this movie has so many characters some are just not seen enough. Hawkeye isn't seen enough, Captain America was seen but probably not used as strongly as need be, Bruce Banner was shown plenty of times but not enough Hulk, so on and so forth. The other issue is Hulk's growth during the movie. Bruce is shown losing control on the Helicarrier, but then he transforms with ease and actually saves Iron Man. In a way this kind of makes sense, but in a way it doesn't. If you've seen Incredible Hulk, you know Bruce can kind of direct the Hulk's actions, not control him. Hulk is shown saving people that are nice to him however like Betty Ross. If Bruce is focused on a person with anger however Hulk will go after that person, and Bruce was pretty angry at Shield so as I said it kind of makes sense, but a few seconds to explain some of this would have been a good move as well. Don't get me wrong, the characters in this movie are great, the issue is there is a lot of them and some of their development is a little rushed due to this.

Well the excitement was great. Seeing Iron Man on the big screen with Captain America and Thor... Thor fighting Hulk, Thor fighting Iron Man, Hawkeye vs. Black Widow, no this movie knew how to pump people up for sure. Seeing Thor fight alongside Hulk later on is also awesome and a bit funny. This alone would make the movie worthwhile for most. You do feel horrid when the glue that brought the team together through all the movies dies by Loki's hands as well, as Phil Coulson is in all but the Incredible Hulk and Captain America movies. This gives the team something to strive for, some common ground and a common goal, excluding Hulk as he was flying around and falling to Earth. You could feel these people who didn't really like each other form up and build up as a team. Also hoping Tony Stark makes it out even though you knew he was going to was exciting.

Pretty great special effects and even in the crazier parts of the movie, the fights were never all that confusing. Honestly the Hulk and Iron Man looked great and the aliens looked pretty decent as well. The CGI is noticeable at times, but not as bad as other movies for sure. The scenes worked well in the movie lacking in very few places for scene quality. The settings worked out as well, as no setting was out of place which was excellent.

Aliens attacking New York isn't creative but the reasons behind it, Loki wanting to put on a show at Stark Towers, is. The aliens are designed pretty well though they all look the same, and the reasons to get these big name super heroes to fight each other was pretty good. Helicarrier's design was creatively good, and the feeling you get when the nuke call is made under Nick Fury's nose gives you the same feeling you get when watching Captain America Winter Soldier, a future movie which is excellent! See? It all ties together.

The fact that they pulled this off is amazing. Taking four movie franchises and combining them into one, they were leading up to it and they managed to pull it off in style. While this movie isn't perfect as it has the same flaw as Captain America, I recommend this more so because the action is better quality and this movie has more then any other movie. While I worry about the movie this is all leading up too, Avengers Age of Ultron, because that movie has so much in it, this movie had a lot in it as well but it flowed nicely. The only issue is that you don't see enough of every character, and there are a few minor issues here and there with the plot, but it still works out nicely.
I'd almost recommend buying this movie outright. Seriously it is that good. There is a smaller issue with the plot, and the issue that you don't see enough from every character, but you see enough of the characters for the movie to work in the end nicely. The special effects, settings, creative design, and emotional pull are excellent, the characters are wonderful (even Thor who was weaker in his own movie), and the plot makes so much flow nicely and smoothly. I have to say rent, but I recommend checking it out as soon as you can if you haven't for some reason.
